Film Screening: After Yang
Wednesday, April 16, 2025 Time: 6:00 - 8:00 PM Location: City center, basement of the KII, "Tiefenhörsaal" Room M 17.02.
Join us for the screening of the 2021 film adaptation of Weinstein’s short story, followed by a Q&A session with the author. The film addresses themes of race, identity, and AI, including the ongoing challenge of the "whiteness of AI."
Creative Writing Workshop

Alexander Weinstein, Dr. Bundschuh, and Dr. Curtis Runstedler will lead this session, encouraging everyone to participate and develop their best cyberstory ideas!
Weinstein is the founder and Director of the Martha's Vineyard Institute of Creative Writing and author of the short story collections "Universal Love" and "Children of the New World," which was selected as a New York Times Notable Book of the Year and a best book of the year by NPR and Electric Literature. His fiction has been featured in Best American Science Fiction & Fantasy and Best American Experimental Writing. His short story "Saying Goodbye to Yang" was adapted into the film "After Yang" by A24 Films, and it won the Alfred P. Sloan Prize at Sundance, the Boston Society of Film Critics Award, and was listed in Barack Obama’s Best Films of 2022.
