Reflection, consultation or intervention? About the role and responsibility of science in the pandemic
With Prof. Dr. Frank Allgöwer (Institute for Systems Theory and Automatic Control, University of Stuttgart)
In the first IRIS Coffee Chat, Frank Allgöwer from the Institute for Systems Theory and Automatic Control will explain how he and his team used control engineering methods to analyse the Covid 19 pandemic in Germany and how strategies were developed to order measures to contain the pandemic. In retrospect, these measures might have been suitable to avoid the second and third wave. Frank Allgöwer will reflect on the role and responsibility of scientists in the pandemic and describe the resulting dilemmas, among others in dealing with political decision-makers.
Discussion: Prof. Dr. Cordula Kropp (Center for Interdisciplinary Risk and Innovation Studies/ZIRIUS)
Moderation: Dr. Kathrin Braun (ZIRIUS)
